Michael Mitchell is a Toronto-based writer, photographer and filmmaker. Over the past 40 years he has contributed to numerous art journals, magazines, museum catalogues and books as both a writer and photographer. Mitchell’s 2005 memoir, The Molly Fire, was a finalist for various literary prizes including the Governor General’s. His photographic work is in numerous private and corporate collections as well as the Art Gallery of Ontario, the National Gallery of Canada and Sweden’s Museum of Modern Art. A paddler for many years, his Award-winning Arctic film Caribou Kayak is distributed by the NFB. He is a graduate of both the University of Toronto and Ryerson.
