 Moiya Callahan’s music thrives in North America and abroad through performance, broadcast, and publication. In recent years her works have been selected for performance by such noted ensembles as Studio New Music of Moscow, Ensemble Eleven (UK), London Chamber Group (UK), ENSEMBLE SIRIUS (USA), Percussion Group Cincinnati, Motion Ensemble (Canada), the COMA National Ensemble (UK), and NOISE-San Diego New Music Ensemble. Ms. Callahan is the recipient of grants and fellowships from the Canada Council for the Arts, Conseil des arts et des lettres du Quèbec, Meet the Composer Foundation, Camargo Foundation, American Music Center, and the Frank Huntington Beebe Fund, and her works have won high honours in a host of competitions including SCI-ASCAP, FIRST MUSIC, International Jurgenson, Lys Music Orchestra, Margaret Blackburn, and IAWM. A native of Seattle, Washington, Callahan now lives and works in Montréal, where current projects include a commission for the Thelema Trio (Belgium). Moiya completed her doctoral studies in composition at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music with Ricardo Zohn-Muldoon, then went on to pursue post-doctoral studies with Simon Bainbridge and Philip Cashian at the Royal Academy of Music in London.
