On April 17th, 2014, Continuum joined forces with Toronto District School Board (TDSB) Music Instructional Leader Doug Friesen and composer Chris Thornborrow to present a concert of ten world premieres by TDSB students. The students, representing ten different schools from across the TDSB, and the Continuum ensemble were joined by musicians from A.Y. Jackson Secondary School in North York. Each of the composer's schools was bussed to A.Y.Jackson for the concert - an inspiring afternoon of music making in a packed auditorium.

For several months, Doug and Chris worked with the students on their compositions through the use of Hyperscore, music composition software developed at MIT. Some pieces were larger group efforts; some were written by only a few students. Chris was then tasked with taking the Hyperscore renditions of the pieces and creating standard notation, which was then read by the musicians from Continuum and A.Y. Jackson. Each piece was introduced by its composers, and the variety and depth of imagination in the various works was truly remarkable.
