Singing the Earth Fundraising Launch
Tuesday, June 11, 7-11 pm
Atelier Rosemarie Umetsu

Join Continuum and master of ceremonies R.H. Thomson on Tuesday, June 11 for a fundraising launch of Nuyaml-il Kulhulmx (Singing the Earth) at Atelier Rosemarie Umetsu, 7-11 pm. We've just announced some of the fabulous silent auction prizes available that night:

• The experience of a lifetime: compose a piece of music under the guidance of Anna Höstman for Continuum's musicians, hear it performed and get a recording
• A private concert by Continuum's musicians including one request
• Works of art by artist and illustrator Gary Taxali, Gord Peteran, and photographer Ken Straiton
• An Atelier Rosemarie Umetsu package

The evening also includes performance by mezzo-soprano Marion Newman and pianist Gregory Oh of a work by Anna Höstman, an outdoor percussion playground and delicious food provided by Tita Flips.

Singing the Earth is a creation of composer Anna Höstman, dramaturge Dylan Robinson, and mezzo-soprano Marion Newman. Through music, text and installation, they explore the social, political and spiritual relationships Nuxalk, Norwegian and other Bella Coola Valley residents have had with the natural landscape during the 20th century.

The Canada, Ontario and Toronto arts councils have supported this ambitious artistic endeavour to the tune of $14,500. On June 11, we will be challenging you to help us match this amount, and ensure that we have in place the funds required to mount the project during Continuum's 2013-2014 season.

Tickets for June 11 are $45 per person and cover food, open bar, and entertainment. Tax receipts will be issued for donations received beyond the ticket price.

Time: 7 - 11pm
Place: Atelier Rosemarie Umetsu, 198A Davenport Road

We look forward to seeing you there!

Sincerely,
